Sisal, derived from the leaves of the 'agave sisalana' cactus plant, has been an integral part of Rwandan culture for generations. This natural fibre holds a special place in the hearts of skilled women weavers who have honed their craft over the years. These talented artisans transform sisal fibres into exquisite baskets, carpets, and traditional architectural pieces that reflect the essence of Africa.
With passion and precision passed down through generations, they skilfully hand weave the sisal discs featured at the heart of our Bongani women's necklaces, Kwasi women’s necklaces and our Kwaku designer rings.

As the sisal discs take shape, we embark on the next stage of our artisanal journey—the creation of hand-moulded brass settings in Kibera, Nairobi. Our commitment to sustainability drives us to source the brass from old padlocks that have served their purpose. Through a meticulous process of melting and moulding, we breathe new life into these discarded locks, infusing the metal with fresh vitality. It is through this process that we have also crafted our Askari designer bracelet, Zuri & Jani women's earrings.
